Dr. Amanda Medrano, PsyD

  • With over a decade of experience as a clinical psychologist, I support individuals and families navigating life transitions, including the journey to parenthood and early caregiving. My work draws on experience across hospitals, community clinics, schools, and specialized perinatal programs, with a focus on how personal histories shape identity and relationships. In addition to my clinical practice, I am a supervisor and trainer, supporting clinicians in developing attachment-based and trauma-informed approaches to care.

Services

  • I support individuals, partners, and families through the many transitions surrounding fertility, pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. This includes those navigating infertility, pregnancy loss, high-risk pregnancies, birth trauma, or NICU experiences, as well as those adjusting to postpartum changes or seeking support as they bond with their baby. I also work with caregivers who want to understand how their own childhood experiences shape their identities, expectations, and challenges as a caregiver. My approach is relational and attachment-focused, honoring each person’s cultural values and lived experiences while creating a space for reflection, healing, and growth.

  • I provide consultation to clinicians, leaders, and organizations working with young children and families. This may include guidance on perinatal and early childhood mental health, support with clinical cases, training, staff development, and program improvement. My approach emphasizes reflective practice and is rooted in relationships and systems, with the goal of strengthening program practices, supporting leaders in managing their teams, and fostering environments that promote resilience and well-being for both staff and the families they serve.

  • I offer trainings for individual providers and groups, including those working in mental health, early childhood settings, and family-support roles. Current offerings focus on attachment, family work, reflective practice, culturally responsive care, trauma, and identity development (particularly related to being a parent/caregiver). Trainings can be provided as stand-alone workshops or multi-session series to support deeper learning. I collaborate with each organization to design a training package that aligns with their population, team experience, and goals. Please contact me to discuss your needs.

  • My standard fee is $240 per 50-minute therapy session.

Fees for trainings are determined based on the customized training package we develop together.
